Kim HOTSTART Heater Replacement
Looking for a Kim HOTSTART heater replacement? Although the Kim HOTSTART name is no longer used, HOTSTART continues to manufacture reliable engine and coolant heaters for generators, diesel engines, industrial equipment, and more. We can help you find the correct replacement model.
Kim Hotstart Brand History
Kim HOTSTART block heaters are frequently requested at Power Systems Plus. We regularly hear from customers looking for specific Kim HOTSTART models or sending us photos of an existing heater with the original Kim HOTSTART logo. If your generator or engine still has a Kim HOTSTART heater installed, you’re not alone.
If you’re looking to purchase a brand-new Kim HOTSTART heater today, you won’t find one under that name. The company has rebranded over the years to better reflect its leadership in engine heating and thermal management technologies.
In 2009, Kim HOTSTART, formerly known as Kimberlin Manufacturing, rebranded to HOTSTART as the company expanded into international markets. Up until then, customers purchased genuine Kim HOTSTART engine heaters under the original brand name. In 2020, the company introduced the HOTSTART Thermal Management brand to reflect its growing focus on innovative engine heating and cooling technologies.

Kim HOTSTART Replacement Models
Below are common Kim HOTSTART heater models and current HOTSTART product options. If your model is not listed, contact us with the model number or a photo of the heater label and we’ll help identify the correct replacement.
TPS Engine Block Heater
Thermosiphon Heater: HOTSTART TPS thermosiphon heaters are coolant preheaters that use natural coolant circulation to maintain engine temperatures for dependable cold-weather starting. The TPS series is available in 500W, 1kW, 1.5kW, 1.8kW, and 2kW models and is designed for 2.5L (150 CID) to 11.5L (700 CID) diesel and gas engines used in standby generators, stationary power, marine, construction, and truck applications. Models are available in 120V, 240V, and 277V configurations.
CB, CL & WL Thermosiphon Heaters
Heavy-Duty Thermosiphon Heaters: The CB, CL, and WL series are coolant preheaters that use natural coolant circulation to maintain optimal engine temperatures without requiring a circulation pump. Available in 1.5kW to 5kW configurations, these heaters are designed for diesel and gas engines ranging from approximately 350 CID (5.7L) to 1,800 CID (29.5L). Common applications include standby generators, power generation, marine, construction, industrial equipment, and truck engines. Multiple single-phase and three-phase voltage options are available depending on the heater series.
CTM & HOTflow® Pump-Driven Engine Heaters
Pump-Driven Heater: The CTM HOTflow® series uses an integrated circulation pump to deliver uniform coolant heating throughout the engine, helping eliminate hot spots and improve engine warm-up. Available in 1kW, 1.5kW, and 2.5kW models, CTM heaters are designed for diesel and gas engines up to 20L (1,200 CID) used in standby generators, power generation, marine, construction equipment, and truck applications. For larger engines or applications requiring higher heat output, HOTSTART also offers CKM, CSM, and EVRHEAT pump-driven heating systems.
Need a larger pump-driven heating system? HOTSTART also offers the CSM HOTflow® series, providing forced coolant circulation with heating capacities up to 12 kW for larger industrial engines and power generation applications.
EVRHEAT Preheater
Forced Circulation Heater: The EVRHEAT Series 20 is HOTSTART’s advanced pump-driven coolant preheater, designed to maintain optimal engine temperatures for diesel and gas engines up to 20L (1,200 CID). Available in 1.4kW, 1.9kW, and 2.5kW models, EVRHEAT heaters feature intelligent solid-state controls, an integrated operator display, and a 180° swivel inlet for simplified installation and retrofits. Compared to traditional thermosiphon heaters, the EVRHEAT Series 20 can reduce energy consumption by up to 45% while providing more consistent engine heating.
